In 62 days at sea, Christopher’s boat traveled a distance that was 1/3 farther than the distance Ferdinand’s boat traveled during the same amount of time. If 1 nautical mile is about 1.15 miles, approximately how many nautical miles did Christopher’s boat travel in 62 days at sea? Express your answer as a decimal to the nearest hundredth.

A knot is a unit of speed equal to one nautical mile per hour. What was Christopher’s average speed, in knots, during his 62 days at sea? Express your answer as a decimal to the nearest hundredth.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Thanksgiving is sometimes referred to as “Turkey Day.” Last year in the United States 240 million turkeys were produced. The majority of those Turkeys were produced by just nine states. Minnesota produced 1/5 of those turkeys, the most of any of the nine states. Combined, the next three largest producers of turkeys, Arkansas, North Carolina and Indiana, accounted for 1/3 of those turkeys. Missouri, Virginia, California, Pennsylvania and Ohio rounded out the group of nine states, producing a combined 1/4 of those turkeys. Together, the remaining 41 states produced x million turkeys last year. What is the value of x?

It depends on what kind of math problem it is because I think math word problems are hard but an algebra problem is not that hard for me.

If I have done the math correctly I believe that I can answer the valentines day one. There are 22 people in her class including herself, because if 2/3 were from girls then 1/3 were from boys and 1/3 represents 7 so 7×3+=21+1+ 22!! As you can tell I like math a little.

Which problems did you try, Michael? The class in Canada tried some together as a class. If you tell me which problem you like best, I will post the answer. Or I will just give you a hint on how some of my students solved it. We love math!
